Schedule
Import a Primavera or Microsoft Project programme and read it as an interactive Gantt chart, with the critical path and every link in view.
What is the Schedule?
Import a Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project programme and Bestrack turns it into a Gantt chart. Open any project and select Schedule.
Import a Programme
- Get your programme as a file: an XER export from Primavera, or the .mpp file from Microsoft Project.
- In Schedule, click Import and pick the file.
- Bestrack builds the Gantt and makes it the Active version.
An XER file is read in your browser. A .mpp file (up to 100 MB) is uploaded and converted in the background, which takes a few seconds, and the progress screen follows it. If something in the file could not be brought across, a note tells you what.
Tasks, outline levels (as WBS groups), links with lag, milestones, progress, planned dates from Baseline 0, slack and the working calendar. Inactive tasks, recurring calendar exceptions and percentage lags are skipped. Constraints, resources and the other baselines are not shown yet. Activities are matched by their Microsoft Project task ID, so re-importing the same plan updates it in place.
Activities are matched by their code. Matches are updated, new ones are added, and anything missing from the new file is removed. Importing needs create permission on Schedule.
Read the Gantt
- 1Version · new import becomes Active
- 2Timescale · Today · Days · Weeks · Months

- 4Data date · blue line: where the programme stands
- 5View options · columns, baseline, lines
| Look | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Red bar | Critical activity |
| Amber, green, grey | In progress, completed, not started |
| Diamond | Milestone |
| Dashed bar | Planned dates (turn on Planned (baseline) bars) |
| Blue line | Data date |
The Gantt shows your programme as imported. To change a date or progress, update it in Primavera or Microsoft Project and import again. The critical path comes from the source file and is not recalculated.
